What is Dashboard?

Dashboard is a collection of visuals from same report or different report.

Difference Between Dashboard and Report

Pages

1. Dashboard consist only one page
2. Report can consist one or more pages

Data Source

1. Dashboard has one or more reports and or one or more dataset per dashboard
2. Report has single dataset per report 

Available in Power BI Desktop

1. We can not create dashboard on power bi desktop
2. We can build report in powerbi desktop

Filtering

1. We can not filter and slice in dashboard
2. Many different ways to filter, highlight and slice in report

Configure data alerts

Data alerts can be used to notify us or a user that a specific data point is above, below, or at a specific threshold that you can set. 

These alerts are features that are only available on Power BI service and they are available on such report elements as KPI visuals, gauges, and cards.

Pin Visual to Dashboard and Pin a live report page to a dashboard

In order to pin the visual from report to dashboard we need to select that visual and click on pin then we will get new window which asks us pin to existing dashboard or new one according to need we can select the option.

In order to live report page to a dashboard we need to click on more option and select pin to dashboard and then select existing or new dashboard as per need, In this way we can pin visual or report page to the dashboard. 

Add a dashboard theme

To change the dashboard theme, click on edit option and select Dashboard theme and we get a window where we can manage theme such as background color, tile background color, font color and many other.

Modify DAX filter context in Power BI Desktop models

Summary CALCULATE  DAX function to modify filter context in the formulas. The syntax for the CALCULATE function is as follows: CALCULATE (<expression>, [[<filter1>], <filter2>]…) I learned about filter context. And also learned why and how to work with the CALCULATE function to modify filter context by passing in filters. These filters can add or overwrite the filter context, and they can modify filter context when we are passing in special functions like REMOVEFILTERS or KEEPFILTERS. Additionally, I learned that the CALCULATE function can transition row context to filter context, which can be required when we are using measure expressions in calculated columns or iterator functions.
