Explore What Power BI Can Do For You?

Power BI can help make our job easier and more effective at the same time by converting all that data into charts and graphs to help us visualize our data in meaningful ways.

We can view data insights from colorful and compelling visuals instead of just lists and tables. Our colleagues can work from the same trusted dashboards and reports from a browser or mobile device. Because our data updates and refreshes automatically, we always working with the freshest content.

Safely interaction with  content

We can explore and interact with our content, filter, slice, subscribe, and export, without affecting the underlying dataset or the original dashboards, reports, or apps.

Show data and Export data

Use the Show Data feature if we want to view data that Power BI is using to build a visual. The selected visual expands to fill the canvas, and the data displays below or alongside.

In addition to showing the data that is used to create a visual, we can also export that data and view it in Microsoft Excel. When we export to Excel, we are creating a separate document, a spreadsheet that isn't part of Power BI. Any changes that you make in the Excel file won’t impact the data in Power BI. Whether we want to take a closer look at the data, or we want to use the data in another application or for another purpose, Power BI gives us that flexibility.

Cross highlight and cross filter report content
All visuals in a report are related. Highlight or select a value in one visual and instantly view its impact on the other visuals.
Subscribe Power Bi Report and Dashboard

To stay up-to-date on our most important content, we can subscribe to report pages and dashboards that matter most to us. Power BI will send a snapshot to our email inbox.

Get alerts when your data reaches a threshold

Our data is live, and Our visuals will update automatically. If we want to be notified when data changes above or below a threshold that we have set, use data alerts. Power BI sends us an email when the value passes any upper or lower limit that we set.

Explore with report, dashboard and apps in Power BI

1. Dashboard

A Power BI dashboard is made up of tiles that, together, tell a story. Because it's limited to one page, a well-designed dashboard contains only the most important elements of that story. We can't edit the dashboard, but there are several ways to use the data to monitor our business and make data-backed decisions.

2. Open a report from a dashboard

The tiles on our dashboard are visualizations from reports. Opening a report is as simple as selecting a tile. The report opens to a page that contains the content that we selected.

3. Change report view options

Reports can be viewed on many different devices, with varying screen sizes and aspects. By default, Power BI sets reports to Fit to page, which means we don't have to scroll, but the type might be small. On the View menu, select Actual size to view the information on the report at full size, but be aware that we might need to scroll.

4. View bookmarks in your report

A report designer might gives us alternative views of the same data. For example, while one view shows data for the Central region, another view shows data for the Southern region, and a third for the Northern region. By selecting a bookmark, we can switch between the three different views of the same report page.

Not all reports have bookmarks. To determine if our report does, open the Bookmarks menu.

Conclusion

In this article I have given brief of what power bi can do for us, including filters, slicers, report, dashboard, apps etc.
